Town of Kindersley
The Town of Kindersley is located 198 kilometers west of Saskatoon on Highway 7, a main transportation route from Saskatoon to Calgary. Kindersley was named for Sir Robert Kindersley, a major stockholder in the CNR at the time the town was formed in 1910. In 1963, Kindersley was the first community in Saskatchewan to receive natural gas.
The town services a trading district of 40,000 people and has an annual traffic count of over 5 million people.
Kindersley has hosted several successful events such as the 1984 World Youth Baseball Championships, hosting Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1987 and the Saskatchewan Winter Games in 1994.
